I have been at Sunny Oaks since May of 2008. I had started out at South Fork and worked there for almost 6 years and took care of the customers who lived there. I have some great times and memories there. I then wanted to do more and move on up in the company and wanted to start a new chapter in my work life. In July of 2014 there were a couple of DSP IV positions open so I applied for the DSP IV over at Culver House and a couple of days later I got the job. I worked there till getting the Team Leader position at Jane Duke House. I love doing outings and having adventures with the customers of Sunny Oaks. On my off time I enjoy being with my loving family. I have two sons and a wonderful boyfriend of 8 years. I am truly honored to be a part of this great company.
Rebecca Brandon - Residential Director
I started babysitting when I was twelve. My neighbors had a child with Autism, a deaf child, and a hyperactive 3 year old. Soon I was babysitting for several families with special needs kids, as word got around. At 17 I started working at the Oregon School for the Blind, where all the children there had some form of I/DD. I also volunteered 1 day a week at FTC, doing a craft session. Most of all my jobs have been working in this field. After I started with Sunny Oaks, I thought, This is it. I have been with SOI since 2003.
Mindy Bishop - Team Leader - South Fork House
Hello, I’m Mindy Bishop. I was born and raised in Salem, Oregon. I have been a part of Sunny Oaks since April 16th 2013 and have learned, grown and truly enjoyed every moment of it. I started at Anson Bell, transferred with a customer to South Fork, then went back to the excitement that is Anson Bell. In September of 2014 transfferred to Harbaugh. I applied for the Assistant to the Team Leader position for an up and coming home in Silverton (Jane Duke House), I got it! Soon after, I became the Team Leader at Jane Duke House where I learned something new everyday. Everyday is a new experience and I look forward to being here for many years to come!

I have been working for Sunny Oaks Inc for almost 6 years. Over the years I have worked at several homes and have made many friends. I work now as the Team Leader of Anson Bell house where I get the priviledge to lead a team to support wonderful individuals. Jared Weekly - Community Inclusion Specialist
I grew up with family, friends, and family friends, who experienced mental illness, addiction, and developmental disabilities; this field has been part of my family and life for at least four generations. I started my own foray into this field in 2005 providing in home care for a friends brother who experiences autism, challenging behaviors, and developmental disabilities. In 2012 I was hired to manage a large ATE program for Spruce Villa called Active Oregon that supported 30 customers. While I was there Governor Kitzhaber issued executive order 13-04 which gave a new injection of life into Oregon’s employment services for people experiencing developmental disabilities, and I embarked on a 4 year journey in supported employment that has continuously evolved. During those 4 years worked with Oregon’s Employment First leadership, as well as local teams, to ensure those who experienced significant barriers to their communities had access to services. I have also had the pleasure of placing people who had long been told they couldn’t work, in their first real jobs where they had a boss and coworkers, instead of staff and peers. Now as a Community Inclusion Supervisor I help facilitate and guide employment services for Sunny Oaks customers as well as working to help our customers move towards greater access, independence, and integration, in their communities.

Shannon has been doing behavior support in Oregon for the past 16 years. She specializes in collaborating with team members to create supports that focus on quality life, a sense of well being, and positive relationships
Shauna Clark - Medical Liaison/Mental Health Liaison
Sunny Oaks is really a great company to work for, who really takes care of their staff and customers we support, we have some of the best benefits around, we may not make bank but it’s really about loving what you do. I am blessed to be a part of this little “Family”, that’s what it feels like after so many years. I have work for SOI for about 15 year’s total, I have worked in several of the programs, I have never work at the day programs. I have been a DSP, an ATL and currently Medical Liaison for the second time. This is a perfect job for me and I love doing it. I handle medical appointments, phone calls, paperwork and transportation. I work closely with staff, team leaders, doctors and their assistants and of course the individuals we support. I never worked in the I/DD field prior to coming to Sunny Oaks, but have spent many years caring for people. Although my best friend all through grade school was in a wheelchair, non-verbal, boy with cerebral palsy. I always protected him from people who were mean and still see him to this day. I love working in this field that clearly makes such a difference in people’s life’s and to bring a smile to their faces. I have 2 beautiful girls who have grown up volunteering for the company, they love to be a part of this wonderful organization.

I have been with Sunny Oaks since 1989. I handle all things related to hiring employees, administering employee benefits, mediation for staff, and back up payroll as the Personnel Director.
As the Budget Director, I assist in developing and overseeing the agency budget.
As the Safety Officer, I oversee the safety of the organization in conjunction with the Safety Committee
As the vacation coordinator, I plan affordable vacations for both Sunny Oaks and other agency customers to destinations such as Hawaii, Disneyland, Caribbean cruise, Alaska cruise, Mexican Rivera cruises, San Diego beach trips, and other destinations.
I have been truly blessed to be a part of the Sunny Oaks’ family.
Lori Kenney - Community Access & Training Director
I started working in this field in 1988 and started working for Sunny Oaks Inc. March 2008, as the Team Leader at Anson Bell. My current position is the CAT Director. I feel fortunate to have learned a lot from both customer and staff and continue to learn more every day. I truly enjoy working with all the customers and staff at Sunny Oaks.
Cathy Clark - Senior Director
I started working for Sunny Oaks in December 2000. I have worked as a DSP, DSP IV, Team Leader and now in my current position as Residential Director. I have learned a lot along the way and continue to learn more every day. I am blessed to have a job where it is clear that I make a difference in other peoples lives.
Brian Varley - Executive Director
Born and raised on the Oregon Coast, I came from a large, extended working class family where many were care givers (both paid and unpaid, both related and unrelated to the person they were supporting). By the time I was a teen, I was volunteering for Special Olympics, in a highschool Cadet Teaching Progam for Special Education, and helping with my grand parents and great grand parents. It’s been such a gift, a wonderful experience to be a helper. I would have never imagined the amazing things I would learn about others and myself. With a few exceptions, such as my time in the Army and leaving the field for a couple years, the overwhelming majority of my volunteer and working life has been supporting people with developmental disability. I’ve been grateful for the experience. I can’t imagine doing anything else!”
